The Rose Consort of Viols

Trickling Tears and Ruthless Rage

“The Rose Consort combines an entrancing ear for line and texture with great beauty of sound and suppleness of phrase, transporting us at once back to an era which gave a premium to grace, refinement, and civilised discourse”, said CD Review.

The programme we chose for the consort to perform was a series of dramatic songs from Elizabethan plays interspersed with dances and fantasias from Byrd, Tomkins and their contemporaries. For this they were joined by Katherine King, Mezzo-Soprano.
