Wu Qian was born in Shanghai in 1984 then studied at the Menuhin School from the age of 11. She played Mozart’s Piano Concerto in E flat Major in the Queen Elizabeth Hall at 15 and won the Tunbridge Wells International Young Artists Competition at 16. After a successful debut
at the Wigmore Hall in 2002, she has had a second solo recital there in 2005 and has performed at many major venues throughout the world. The Independent Newspaper named her as the Classical Music Bright Young Star for 2007.
Wu Qian played Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in A flat, Chopin’s Ballade No 4, Brahms’ Six Piano Pieces and Listz’s Hungarian Rhapsody XII.
