This young quartet was founded in Moscow in 1995 under the professorship of Valentin Berlinsky, the cellist of the Borodin Quartet. In 1996, the Dominant Quartet was awarded the Grand Prix at the Schostakovich International String Quartet Competition in St. Petersburg and were Prize Winners at the International String Quartet Competition in Bordeaux in 2001.
The Times described the quartet’s UK debut in 2004 as “outstanding”. Since then the Quartet has had regular tours around the United Kingdom, including Wigmore Hall, where the Quartet made their successful debut in October 2006. Local audiences may have heard them at The Castle Hotel in Taunton in 2004 and 2006.
They played Beethoven’s Quartet in B flat, Tchaikovsky’s ‘Children’s Album’, Shostakovich’s Quartet No 12.
